Save Facebook Chat History Messages Locally to Computer

Facebook is the most used and famous social network by worldwide monthly active users. It has tons of features including Chat. The chat feature is a very useful feature to have a real time chat with facebook users that is in your confirmed friend list. However it lacks of the ability to save the chat history for reference, only the sending of message are saved and they act like an email.

Fortunately if you are a Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome user, you can install a useful plugin that allows you to save your Chat history to your computer locally so you can view it either online or offline. Chat History Manager Firefox and Chrome extension which can save your Facebook chat messages in your local environment. You can view your chat history anytime either online or offline. Your messages are securely stored and only person passed the security check can view saved messages. Note that all messages are stored in your client, this application won’t store your chat history on server.

After installing the extension, you will need to create an account by going to Tools < Facebook Chat History Manager and select Create Account. The ID used to create local account is a ten or more digit number that facebook used to identify each member. An account is necessary to ensure one can only view his/her own messages. The chat history manager will save your chat message automatically and silencely. After finished installation the extension and created an account, you can now view the chat history using two ways either by Pressing Control+Alt+F to open the chat history window or click the Tools from menubar, go to Chat History Manager and select View History.
