Here is a universal uploader which we have just discovered that allows you to upload images, files and text files to hosting sites. ZUploader is a free, portable and open-source program that lets you upload image, text, files in your clipboard to hosting services. There are two ways to upload files which is by dragging and dropping the file to ZUploader from the program click on the File upload button at the menu bar. ZUploader automatically recognizes the file format and then decides by itself where to upload to by following the rule of the selection. It also supports uploading to custom FTP server if you have one by setting it up in the Settings window.
Currently ZUploader is able to upload images can be uploaded to imageshack.us, tinypic.com, imagebin.ca, img1.us and imgur.com. As for files, it can upload to rapidshare.com, sendspace.com, filebin.ca and drop.io. Finally for text files, it can be uploaded to pastebin.com, pastebin.ca, paste2.org and slexy.org. After the upload has completed, you will get the URL to the file which you have been uploaded.
ZUploader is still in beta and features are being added to it in future versions. It would be nice to see a right click context menu to easily upload the files without first running the program and then dragging the file to the interface. Also the list of files that are uploaded does not get saved and will be lost when you close and reopen the program.
There are many types of computer auditing software that scans and displays both software and hardware information about a computer. Kaspersky has a similar free tool called GetSystemInfo which is able to create an online report which is pretty comprehensive. The program is portable and all you need to do is run it and click the Create Report button. GetSystemInfo then scans your computer and auto uploads the report to an online parser website to give you a nice looking page with category. There are 6 main tabs which are System Properties, Devices, Process / Services / Drivers, Files / Registry, Summary and Search. In every main tab has a few child tabs which gives a deeper and more detailed information.
- General Information (Hardware)
- Operating System
- Installed Programs
- Opened TCP/UDP Ports
- Log Events
- Plug ‘N’ Play Drivers
- Network Cards
GetSystemInfo does not make any changes to your computer nor help you clean any virus. However it can greatly help malware cleaning experts in forums to allow deeper understanding of the user’s computer that is suspected to have a computer virus infection. If you are not too familiar with computers, the Summary tab should be able to give you some probable information on drivers and applications that needs to update, unknown, untrusted, incompatible software and infected objects. GetSystemInfo is free for everyone to use and is compatible with Windows 2000, NT, 98, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008 and 7.
A Windows computer can be shared with a few person and there are times when you would like to know what the other users has installed and ran on the computer before. They could have installed a hidden keylogger that steals your login information and see what you chat with other people. One of the way to know what are they doing in computer is by installing a keylogger but what if you want to know what program have they launched before? Fortunately Windows has a feature called UserAssist where it saves the encrypted information about the executable files and links that has been open frequently.
To decrypt and view the UserAssist data, you can use UserAssistView. This utility decrypt and displays the list of all UserAssist entries stored under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserAssist key in the Registry. This tool is portable and can run directly without installation. It shows a list of item name where the executable or shortcut file is ran how many times. The higher the number of count, the more often the program is being ran and that is what you should take note of.
UserAssistView works on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and the recent updated v1.01 fixes to work properly under Windows 7.
All of major search engine such as Google, Yahoo and Bing allows user to search for webpages based on keywords. The search results only contains the title of the webpage, URL and a short description. There won’t be any thumbnail preview included because of two simple reasons why is to make the search faster and also to save the searcher’s bandwidth. However some people may prefer to have a real time generated thumbnail to know the status of the website because the search engine are not fast enough to crawl the website for the latest information. For example, some sites appear on the search result but clicking on it shows under maintenance…
An easy way to have a thumbnail preview is by installing SearchPreview for Google extension for Chrome browser. After installation the plugin, you will see an extra thumbnail preview of the website generated in real time on the right side of the search results.
Do note that using this extension is very different than the Shows Options > Images from the page option in the Google Search page. The Images from the page option takes the images from Google Images but the extension creates a live thumbnail preview for the search result. If you haven’t noticed, selecting the Images from the page option gives out search results very differently compared to the normal keyword search.
