Newer cameras has panoramic photo taking features just press the shutter and shoot the scene with a sweeping motion and the camera does the rest. However if you have an older camera that does not have panoramic feature, you can take a single photo on every angle and use a computer stitching software to merge the images and make it into a panoramic photo. You can find many software that helps to merge or stitch multiple photos into one to make it a panoramic photo but did you know that Microsoft has a software called ICE that does this?

Microsoft (ICE) Image Composite Editor is an advanced panoramic image stitcher. All you need is a set of overlapping photographs of a scene from a single camera location and once imported to the software, ICE automatically combine them together. It is smart in a way that it will not attempt to stitch photos that are not taken from the same location or overlapping one another. You can then click on Automatic Crop so that it will crop the images without the curvy edges and then export to either JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG or HD photo image format.

The Microsoft ICE has been recently updated to version 1.3.3 which enables it to stitch faster on computers with multiple CPU cores. Other than that, it has the ability to allow users to publish, view and share the stitched panoramic photos on Photosynth web site.

Microsoft Image Composite Editor works on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
