Make Application Windows 7 Compatible with Online AOK

April 29, 2010 | Filed under Online Service, Windows 7

Windows 7 is the latest operating system by Microsoft. It has gotten many praises but for corporate users, there is one big concern which is whether the current application has any compatibility issues or not. If you have a MSI installer package that cannot be installed on Windows 7 because it is built on an older version and for some reason the programmer is not available to update it, you can try AOK4SMB.

Microsoft and ChangeBASE are working together to offer you a simple online solution that assesses and automatically remedy applications for Windows 7 compatibility at the press of a button. This solution uses a subset of the full AOK tool from ChangeBASE, a market leader in automated application compatibility and remediation software. AOK4SMB is an application compatibility tool developed to help small and midsize businesses to get their applications ready for Windows 7.

All you need to do is create a free account and then upload your MSI package to the server which will be analyzed automatically. After a few minutes, a report will be emailed to you and if there is an automated fix available, AOK4SMB will supply a fix for your MSI package as a transform file. The fix will come in a zip file with a .cmd , .mst and .cab file. Just put all of the 3 files together with your MSI file and run the .cmd file which will transform it and apply the Windows 7 compatibility fix. This service will be free until end of July 2010.
