Enable McAfee SiteAdvisor for Google Chrome

March 27, 2010 | Filed under Browser, Google, Security

If you install McAfee SiteAdvisor software on your Windows computer, it will install the award-winning, free browser plug-in that provides safety advice about Websites when you need it before you click on a risky site. Basically there are 4 icons used by SiteAdvisor and they are SAFE which shows a checkmark, CAUTION with exclamation mark, a RED X for WARNING and a question mark for unknown or untested website. By default after installation, your Firefox browser will have an additional McAfee SiteAdvisor extension installed and Internet Explorer with SiteAdvisor Toolbar and BHO.

However Google Chrome is not included in the list, yet. Chrome is one of the most famous top browser in the world today but for some weird reason it is being left out by SiteAdvisor installer. If you can’t wait for McAfee to release an updated version of SiteAdvisor that will support Google Chrome, then you can install a Chrome extension called SiteAdvisor for Chrome.

After installing the SiteAdvisor for Chrome extension, you will find an icon at the end of address bar. The icons are the same as described above. Basically the result of the page is determined by this URL http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/http://www.yourwebsite.com.
