If you are a network administrator and needs to keep track of all the software that is installed on the users computer so that the company will not violate any copyright piracy law. Most of the time when a user is given free access to a computer, they will install software that they like to use such as instant messengers and even worse, installing pirated software that could get the company slapped with a hefty fine.
The most automated way of checking for all installed software on a computer is by using Belarc Advisor. The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.
It is very easy to use. After installation, run the Belarc Advisor shortcut icon on desktop and it will automatically grab all the information from your computer. Then your default web browser will open with the report. The report is in HTML file which is saved in a tmp folder at where Belarc Advisor is installed. You must be logged in to an account with a full administrator privileges for a thorough analysis or else Belarc Advisor will have problems accessing some restricted parts of Windows and won’t generate a thorough report.
