BinManager Auto Delete Old Items in Windows Recycle Bin

April 15, 2010 | Filed under Software, Windows

Windows by default offers the user a chance of restoring the deleted files or folders by using the Recycle Bin. If an item is deleted normally by either using the Del key on the keyboard or right click and select delete, the file will go directly into the Recycle Bin. It stays there until the user decides to empty the recycle bin or if the user has ran a disk cleanup and selected to clear the recycle bin items. There are ways to disable the use of recycle bin but it is not recommended and one of the way to do that is by simultaneously pressing Shift+Del on a selected file.

As useful as it is, the Windows Recycle Bin lacks of a feature where it allows the user to set an interval of the items to delete. You can install BinManager which offers a simple and neat feature to auto delete items older than today, yesterday, 2 days, 3 days, a week or a month.

Recycle Bin Manager

All you need to do is right click on the recycle bin, go to Delete Items Older Than and select the desired value. Now you don’t have to worry about the Recycle Bin taking up too much space as it can remove items that are old and probably you won’t be restoring them back.
