Desktop is the best place to put all your files and programs that you access frequently. Moreover you get to easily go to your Desktop by clicking the Show Desktop icon or simply press Win+D. However overtime your desktop can get crowded and you will end up taking a couple of seconds to look for the file or program that you want to launch. Another issue is if you’ve accidentally changed your desktop resolution, all your icons location will be moved and you will have a hard time memorizing where are they again.
To solve this issue, you can use a small and free portable little application called DesktopOK to save your desktop arrangement of icons and files which can be restored at any time. All you need to do is launch the program and click the save button. It will by default save the name with your screen resolution accompanied with the date and time. It is possible to rename the name of the icon layout. To restore them just click on any of the icon layout name that is on the list and click Restore.
There is also a fun feature where you can punch the icons on your desktop to mess up the icons location and placing them at random locations on your screen. It also comes with the ability to auto check if there are any changes on the icons and saves them automatically. DesktopOK is compatible from Windows 98 to 7.
