Add Mac OSX Volume Control and Eject Disc Hotkey in Windows

March 6, 2010 | Filed under Software

For Apple computers running Mac OS X, the keyboard comes with useful hotkey to control the sound volume level (louder or softer), totally mute the speakers, and also ejecting the disc. Well that’s probably the only way to eject because you can’t find an eject button on the computer. As for computers running Windows, most of it doesn’t have this feature but with 3RVX, it is possible to have all those features like what you see in Mac OS X.

3RVX is a skinnable volume display and controller. It shows your sound volume level with its on-screen display (OSD) and also allows you to control the volume via a skinnable slider or custom hotkeys. Supports drive eject notification, mouse hotkeys, and a wide range of customization options.

All you need to do is just install the software, set it to auto start with Windows (you can do this in the program’s Settings), and the volume control, muting and disc ejecting from your keyboard feature are all enabled. You should also check out the Hotkey Setup because that is where you set the hotkey to perform the task. By default it uses WIN key together with MouseMiddle or Oem keys which I believe is from a scroll mouse. You might want to change to your preferences to get it working. There are also 8 skins to choose to change how the volume display and controller should look.
